My work involves listening closely, asking questions and examining how things connect. Alongside my writing and research, I offer conversations, talks and teaching that bring this work into practice.
One-to-One: Applied Liminology
A focused conversation about something you want to examine or develop.
You might bring:
An idea for a business, workshop or creative project.
Writing or research with threads you're struggling to organise.
A personal situation, decision or change you're trying to make sense of.
A dream that has stayed with you, or recurring dream imagery you'd like to explore.
A question, experience or recurring pattern you want to explore.
We begin with what you want to examine and any ideas, notes or material you bring. I listen, ask questions and look with you at recurring themes, contradictions and possibilities. You don't need to arrive with everything neatly explained.
For a business or creative project, this might involve developing the central idea, finding language to describe it or working out how its different parts fit together. When exploring an experience, we consider what you noticed, how you interpret it and what remains uncertain. Dream analysis draws on the imagery and feelings within your dream, your own associations and, where useful, folklore and symbolism. We explore possible meanings in the context of your life. We finish by drawing together the useful points and identifying what you could develop, investigate or try next.

Talks & Teaching
I offer talks, workshops and guest teaching exploring language, folklore, liminal and anomalous experience. My work draws on years of professional practice, teaching and workshop delivery.
Booking options include:
Limintrace : introductory talks on observing and documenting anomalous experience, alongside practical fieldwork teaching through The First Trace workshop.
The Spit Principle: talks and workshops exploring proportion, intervention, restraint and consequence.
I also welcome enquiries about talks drawing on my wider work with language, dreams, symbolism and folklore. Subjects and delivery can be discussed to suit your audience and event.

My writing explores language, folklore, symbolism and liminal experience, including the ways we describe dreams, memory, place and the unfamiliar.
